Fairhaven

Fairhaven

The historic Fairhaven neighborhood has long been a beautiful blend of the old and new set up against expansive views of the San Juan. Set in south Bellingham, it’s a popular spot for visitors and has at its heart a coveted shopping district, filled with gorgeous 19th century architecture and locally owned boutiques.

Housing is a majority of single family homes and apartments that are all minutes away from shopping, entertainment, and outdoor activities. As a tourist destination, Fairhaven gives a nod to the past while maintaining the upkeep of its popular stores and restaurants. Have lunch at Skylark's Hidden Cafe, browse Village Books, have coffee at Tony's or get a facial at the Chrysalis Inn and Spa. Taste olive oil at Drizzle or get gelato at Sirena Gelato. Nearby, the Amtrak Station, Greyhound Station, and Cruise Terminal serve all your travel needs without ever having to get in your car.

In Fairhaven, most housing is close to shopping and you could walk to nearly anything you could want! Gorgeous and inviting Marine Park serves as a beautiful beach location where many members of the vibrant ocean paddling community launch their boats. In fact, the famous Ski to Sea relay race finishes there - it takes place every Memorial Day Weekend and boasts up to 500 teams of 8 athletes, along with thousands of spectators.

For children living in Fairhaven, the typical school track goes from Lowell Elementary to Fairhaven Middle to Sehome High, with other private options around the city. Houses range from older architecture to newer homes with a stunning view of the bay. I-5 runs right beside Fairhaven and through the rest of Bellingham, serving as a fast track to anywhere in the city. This neighborhood is an excellent fit for a variety of family structures and those wanting a change of pace.
